Celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year with the Enthusiastic Return of Haywire Lunar Red

[Summerland, BC] – The team at Haywire Winery is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return of its Lunar New Year limited edition wine, Haywire Lunar Red, in celebration of the Year of the Dragon. This release marks a continuation of a tradition that began with the winery’s first Lunar New Year wine in 2014, when the team at Haywire was the first BC winery to release a Lunar wine label.

Available in limited quantities at $23.88 per bottle, Haywire Lunar Red is poised to capture the hearts of wine enthusiasts and cultural celebrants alike as they enjoy the Lunar year festivities. The Year of the Dragon begins on February 10, 2024.

To secure your bottle of Haywire’s Lunar Red, visit Haywire's online store.

Haywire Lunar Red is a meticulously crafted blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, from the winery’s premium vineyards. This rich and sophisticated wine features a complex flavour profile of juicy red berries layered with licorice, dark chocolate, and brambly fruits. Perfectly complementing a broad spectrum of Asian cuisine, it pairs wonderfully with stir- fried vegetables, pan-seared sablefish, BBQ duck, or can be savoured on its own.

In keeping with Haywire’s commitment to community and cultural engagement, a portion of the proceeds from this special edition wine will be donated to the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. The Vancouver Chinatown Foundation is a registered charity committed to the revitalization of Chinatown, one of Canada’s most iconic neighbourhoods. The Foundation is dedicated to building a more resilient and inclusive community by promoting the well-being of those

in need, while preserving Chinatown’s irreplaceable cultural heritage. Its ongoing projects focus on creating a lasting positive impact such as affordable housing, and cultural and economic development.

“The revival of Haywire Lunar Red is more than reintroducing a beloved wine; it’s to recognize the cultural diversity of our province and to celebrate the Lunar New Year,” said Craig Pingle, general manager of Haywire Winery.

“The previous releases of our Lunar New Year wines went viral with incredible popularity, and we are proud to support the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation with this launch.”

Coupled with this wine release, Haywire has also re-released its food and wine pairing booklet for the Asian market. A decade ago, the team worked with well-known food author Stephanie Yuen and the late journalist Nathan Fong to develop a guide on how to pair Asian-influenced flavours with the flavour profiles that emerge from BC wines. The guide aims to get people to think of pairing wine with Asian cuisine both at home and while dining out.
