Position Title: Punjabi Speaking Communications Coordinator Intern

Location: Flexible: remote and/or in person in Vancouver

Start Date: May 2023 – August 31, 2023

Time Commitment: Flexible; part time or full time available

Note Town Hall Brands operates on a 4-day work week; Monday to Thursday, office hours 9am – 5pm

Compensation: $20 per hour

About You

You are self-motivated and want to be busy as you hate being idle. People say you are smart, quick on your feet, and open minded. You are digitally savvy and possess solid computer skills, and you also hold a strong ability to communicate via phone, web and in-person. Your grammar is excellent, and you hate typos. You understand discretion and know how to uphold confidentiality. You work hard and play hard too as there is life outside the amazing work you do for clients.

Role Responsibilities

As the bilingual English/Punjabi speaking communications coordinator intern, you assist the team and provide the support to their projects. Your role includes any of the following responsibilities:

Administrative

·       Work on database to ensure accuracy of client and contact positions, adding new industry contacts, recording career movements

·       Participate in team and client meetings and potential to work offsite at events as required

·       Any other duties as assigned

 Media Relations

·        Assist in the maintenance and creation of contact lists and help to build the South Asian media contact lists

·        Assist with the implementation of media relations programs for clients by translating approved materials to Punjabi

·        Draft blog posts and other written content as needed in Punjabi

·        Participate in team and/or client meetings.

 Event Support

·        Management of targeted invitation lists

·        Attend events to assist team with set up and tear down and man registration table

 Skill requirements

·        Ability to read and write in Punjabi and English

·        Ability to write copy in short and long form

·        Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format

·        Good technical understanding and can learn new platforms/software quickly

·        Ability to lift boxes and materials up to 20lbs.

 Eligibility criteria for students:

  • Registered in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution (part-time or full-time enrollment in college, bachelor’s, master’s or PhD programs).

  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. International students are not eligible.

  • Undertaking a placement that is recognized as a Work-Integrated Learning component by the student’s institution in connection with a course, degree, certificate, diploma, or other recognized program offered by the institution. The placement can be required or optional, for credit or not for credit.

 More Information & Notes:

We are located at 237 East 4th Ave in Vancouver. When in office, your computer and workstation will be provided. We are wheelchair accessible.

There is a dog that works with the team in this open concept office, so those fearful of or allergic to dogs may not wish to apply. On the flipside, breaks could include walking a friendly dog through Mt Pleasant!

If you choose to work remotely, you will be responsible to ensure you have a computer and cell phone in good condition and a strong Wifi connection to perform your work. Phone calls should be done via online software wherever possible. Town Hall Brands will provide software access for team collaboration.
